Kinneret Innovation Center

KKL-JNF, the Kinneret Academic College and the Zemach Mifalim Company have joined forces to establish a new home for groundbreaking projects in the fields of water, agriculture, and biotechnology.

The Zemach-Kinneret Center was established in 2018. Located at the Kinneret College, the center is a platform for innovative ideas in the fields of food, water and agritech.

The regional Zemach Mifalim Company comprises 22 agricultural localities in the vicinity of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee).

KKL-JNF, the largest green organization in Israel, joined the project in 2020 after identifying an opportunity to create a center of knowledge in the fields of environment, water, agriculture, and climate change.

“The vision is to establish a water, environment, and sustainable agricultural center near the Kinneret, which is a strategic source of Israel’s water,” explains Dr. Doron Markel, KKL-JNF’s chief scientist. “We’ll create a focus for startups as well as research and innovative development.”

The four-story building is in the planning stages and will include a conference hall, visitors center, laboratories, an innovation center, and demonstration rooms for water and the environment.

The building will incorporate green elements, including the natural regulation of temperature produced through glass radiation protection windows, and a green plant wall. Solar panels will be installed on the roof and the facility will include infrastructure for the future treatment of gray water.

KKL-JNF is supporting the two top floors, the “Innovation Center”, approximately 3,700 square meters in size.
