KKL-JNF invites you to join us in commemorating the extraordinary bravery of remarkable Israeli women who emerged as beacons of unimaginable courage amid the darkness of the October 7th terror attacks. Heroines Path, in the Ofakim Park in southern Israel, stands as a testament to their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to saving lives.
A Tribute to Feminine Courage
On October 7, a day etched in our collective memory is one of the worst days for the Jewish people in modern history, vicious terror struck at Israel. In the face of unimaginable danger, and facing hordes of terrorists, courageous women rose to the occasion, demonstrating remarkable valor and selflessness. Their actions, propelled by an indomitable Israeli spirit, saved lives and inspired hope amid chaos.
A Sanctuary of Remembrance
Heroines Path, situated within the tranquil surroundings of Ofakim Park, serves as a sanctuary of remembrance and reflection. Here, amid the soothing embrace of nature, visitors can pay homage to the bravery of these extraordinary women whose deeds will resonate across generations.
Embracing Israeli Resilience
Beyond honoring the past, Heroines Path embodies the spirit of a unique resilience that defines the Israeli people. It stands as a beacon of hope, reminding us that even in the darkest of times, courage and Jewish solidarity prevail. By walking the Heroines Path, visitors not only honor the past but also embrace the resilience that shapes our future.
KKL-JNF Chairperson Ifat Ovadia-Luski stated during the inauguration ceremony that “on October 7, many women acted heroically. We came to honor these women. Those who fought to keep the security doors closed, the brave security coordinators, the fighters, the police officers, the doctors and medics who saved hundreds of people. Those who did not surrender to fear, who did not stop to rest, who demonstrated courage and acted without hesitation. Each with her own superpower. Flesh and blood Zionist heroines, who stand right here with us. We salute these heroes in our special way. We did not place a statue or a stone here. We paved a path, because the heroines of October 7 are part of a long path, which starts long before us, and will continue long after us,” she added.
Police Superintendent Moran Tedgi, one of the celebrated heroines, shared that on October 7th she knew “it was the moment I should fully devote myself to the task. Amid the grenade explosions and the sound of fired RPG rockets that I can still hear to this day, I knew one thing: we will risk our lives to make sure that they [terrorists] will not escape. We will protect the city of Ofakim. May we know better days of peace and safety.”
Enhancing the Experience
Besides paving the path, planting trees, adding signage, and placing benches, the project will include a QR code on site that links to the ‘Way of the Heroines’ website page, allowing everyone to access information and learn the stories of the heroines.
As KKL-JNF embarks on this journey to commemorate the heroic actions of these women, we invite you to join us in becoming part of the Heroines Path. Your support will ensure that their legacy endures, serving as a source of inspiration for generations to come.
Together, we can honor their courage, celebrate their resilience, and create a lasting tribute to their indelible spirit. Be a part of something truly meaningful.
Together, let us ensure that their legacy shines brightly, illuminating the path towards a future filled with hope, courage, and resilience, guiding us towards a brighter tomorrow in Israel.
