Northern Israel is under fire, and local wildlife are feeling the heat. In the dry season, every rocket or missile landing in or intercepted over Israeli territory has a 100% likelihood of igniting a fire. Since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War and Hezbollah’s escalation on the northern front, more than 2,500 hectares of forest have gone up in flames, with catastrophic consequences for animals and birds too small to escape.
Saving Injured Wildlife
Located in the heart of the Hula Valley, a crucial migratory flyway for millions of birds traveling between Eurasia and Africa, the AWRC is perfectly positioned to make a significant impact. The center’s expert team of veterinarians and animal care professionals work tirelessly to provide top-notch care for a diverse range of species, including raptors, small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
Since its establishment in 2019, the AWRC has treated over 660 wild animals across 196 species, successfully rehabilitating and releasing hundreds back into their natural habitats. Every injured or orphaned animal that comes through its doors receives personalized care, ensuring the best possible chance of recovery and reintegration into the wild.
Protecting Nature and Preserving Biodiversity
The AWRC plays a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance of Israel’s ecosystems. By rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife, we help preserve the biodiversity essential for a healthy environment. Each animal saved contributes to the rich tapestry of life that sustains our planet.
Furthermore, the AWRC’s scientific team conducts pioneering research in nature protection and wildlife rehabilitation, developing innovative methods to save endangered species and protect their habitats. This research not only benefits Israel but also contributes valuable knowledge to the global conservation community.
How You Can Help
Wildlife casualties often arrive at the center in a critical state. The ability to provide optimal stabilizing conditions increases their chances of survival. The difficulties are compounded by the environmental conditions of the swampy Hula Valley, which makes responding to critter emergencies challenging.
In light of the above, the Agamon Wildlife Rehabilitation Center seeks to purchase trustworthy pickup truck capable of transporting animals and supplies, and four intensive care units of various sizes. We also seek to acquire an advanced telescope system in order to enhance our capability to monitor rehabilitated animals upon their release. No less importantly, we seek to create a fund for professional training for our staff in wildlife rehabilitation, a relatively new field worldwide, let alone in Israel.
By supporting the Agamon Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, you are making a direct impact on the lives of injured and orphaned wildlife. Your generosity ensures these animals receive the best care they need to heal and return to their natural habitats. Additionally, your support helps protect nature and preserve biodiversity for future generations, particularly in northern Israel.
Donate Today and Be a Part of Something Extraordinary: Your support is not just an investment in the AWRC, but in the future of our planet. Help us give every creature the chance to thrive, protect our natural landscapes, and preserve biodiversity.
