Forestry Division (Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael – Jewish National Fund. KKL-JNF’s 2025 Forest Management Report highlights the year’s key achievements in sustainable forest management, including strengthening forest resilience to climate change, drought, and wildfires. The report also shows progress in forest renewal and rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, fire prevention, ecological research, and long-term planning, reflecting KKL-JNF’s commitment to healthy, resilient forests and open spaces for future generations.
The war in the north, the climate crisis in the south, and intense human activity in the center of the country combined to make 2025 one of the most challenging years Israel’s forests have faced. Data from KKL–JNF point to significant damage, but also to a conceptual shift and the beginning of a recovery process.

KKL-JNF started planting forests in Israel's Western Negev (Gaza Envelope) in the mid-20th century, providing the early communities with green lungs and a beautiful landscape and making the desert bloom. Over the years, the forests grew and flourished and with KKL-JNF's continued maintenance and preservation, they became natural habitats for local flora and fauna, focal points for tourists and visitors, improved air quality and even provided security for communities close to the Gaza border.
This review was written in the framework of the course in forest entomology, supervised by Zvi Mendel.

In response to NOP 22, KKL-JNF has developed an updated forest management policy for Israel, honoring the nation's afforestation legacy. This policy emphasizes the need for modernized management approaches aligned with current forestry, ecological, social, and economic sciences. It establishes a framework for sustainable forest management, defining Israel's forestry goals, forest types, and planning principles to ensure effective stewardship of forest resources
